Nothing here yet

Rosemary honey, convent sweets and wheel-thrown bowls, all waiting.

People first, products second.

All across the country there are people making good things by hand, with a time and a care that are rare today. Lavora exists to connect them to people who value what isn't made in a hurry.

The landscape

The market wasn't built for the small.

A handful of large chains dominate the local economy. They set the prices and, often, what gets produced. Those who produce on a small scale, but with quality, are caught between selling at large-distribution prices, which barely pay for the work, and not being able to reach beyond a few kilometres of the workshop.

The alternative

Taking the work of those who make by hand further.

All across the country there are people making products with time, skill and dedication. Honey, sweets, ceramics, basketry, textiles, preserves. Almost none of these producers can sell beyond their own region. Lavora was born to open that door, without anyone having to stop being who they are.

For those who make

Your work reaches the whole country and the rest of the European Union, without setting up an online store or competing with those who have huge budgets. The people looking for what you make will find it.

You set how much you want to earn per piece and receive that in full, with no exclusivity. Your shop, the fairs and your regular customers stay yours.

We translate your pieces and your story into English and Spanish, and we run the campaigns that bring customers to the catalogue. It costs you nothing and takes none of your time.

For those who buy

Here you always know who made what you take home. Every producer has a face, a story and direct contact.

By choosing a Lavora piece, you directly support a small producer and help keep alive ways of making that would otherwise be lost.

We don't chase volume. We look for people who master a craft and do it well.

How we work

We know every producer

Before accepting anyone, we check by hand who they are and what they make, to gauge the quality, the integrity and the fit with what we stand for. We talk with each applicant before deciding.

We stay in the middle

We keep a record of every transaction and protect both sides. If something goes wrong, we stay with you until it's resolved.

Your rights, guaranteed

Whatever the producer's tax status, your consumer rights are always assured.

Frequently asked

The essentials, no fluff.

What is Lavora?

A market for small Portuguese producers who make what they sell. We connect them with people looking for what's made by hand, buying direct from the producer, in Portugal and across the European Union. Every producer is vetted by hand before joining.

Does the producer pay anything to Lavora?

No. There's no monthly fee and no cut taken from the producer's price. They set how much they want to earn per piece and receive that in full. Our commission is added to the price and paid by the buyer.

Where are the producers?

All over the country, with special attention to areas of small-scale production and the interior. Every producer has their own page, with a face, a story and a region.

Do I need an account to buy?

Yes, but it's light. Before checkout we ask you to create an account (name, email and password, confirmed with a code). The account keeps your history, order tracking and reviews.
